Where Scott Stands:

Straight Answers to Your Biggest Questions

  • Absolutely. My commitment to bringing conservative values to the Carroll ISD School Board is unwavering. As a proud Southlake resident, husband, and father, my decisions are grounded in faith, family, and personal responsibility. These are values that reflect the heart of this community. I believe parents are the primary stakeholders in their children’s education, and I will champion parental rights, transparency, and accountability within our school system.

Conservative values also mean protecting academic excellence, not by lowering standards, but by raising expectations and empowering our students with the tools and discipline to succeed. They mean ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used wisely, focusing on the classroom, and providing real, measurable solutions to support our teachers and students, especially in vital areas like Special Education.

I will lead with conviction and humility, maintaining respect for educators and a passion for preserving the tradition of excellence that defines Carroll ISD. Together, we can protect what makes Southlake strong while building a future rooted in truth, values, and opportunity.

  • Creating a strong connection between the school board and our community starts with being present, approachable, and engaged—and that’s exactly how I plan to lead. I believe trust is built through relationships, not just policies. As a parent of Carroll ISD students and a local business owner, I’m deeply invested in this district and the families it serves.

You’ll find me at school events, in the stands at games, in the halls of our campuses, and in conversations with educators, parents, and students—not just during election season, but every day. My goal is to be a visible, responsive voice who listens first and leads with humility. I want to hear directly from our teachers, families, and community leaders about what’s working and where we can improve.

We also need to create more intentional opportunities for engagement—town halls, community forums, and accessible communication channels where voices are heard and respected. At the heart of it, I believe the school board should reflect the values, concerns, and hopes of the community it serves, and I’m committed to being that kind of representative for Southlake.

  • School bonds can be a powerful tool for strengthening our district when approached with diligence, responsibility, and vision. I support the use of school bonds as a means to invest in critical infrastructure, safety, and educational innovation, but those investments must be fiscally responsible, transparent, and sustainable.

We owe it to our community to ensure every dollar is spent wisely, with a clear return on investment—not just in buildings, but in the success of our students and teachers. I believe in pursuing strategic projects that generate long-term value for Carroll ISD—infrastructure that supports growing enrollment, enhances academic and athletic programs, and meets evolving student needs without increasing the tax burden on families.

Looking ahead, we must plan for future needs, not just current ones. This means listening to our educators and coaches, evaluating long-term projections, and making decisions that keep Carroll at the forefront of academic excellence. Our schools are the heart of our community, and we must be wise stewards, investing today in ways that set our students and district up for success tomorrow.

  • I believe parents are and always should be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives, including their education. Parental rights are foundational, not optional or negotiable. As a father of four and someone deeply engaged in this community, I understand the importance of ensuring our schools partner with parents rather than replace them.

Transparency is essential. Parents deserve clear access to what’s being taught, how it’s being taught, and the ability to provide input on decisions that affect their children. That’s not just a matter of policy; it’s a matter of respect and trust. As a member of the school board, I will fight to preserve and strengthen parental authority, ensure full transparency in curriculum and classroom practices, and always advocate for decisions that align with the values that make Southlake such a strong, united community.

  • Supporting our teachers and staff, especially in areas like Special Education, is one of the most urgent responsibilities facing Carroll ISD. With over 20 years of experience in the educational staffing industry, I understand both the challenges and the solutions.

We must take a strategic, long-term approach to staffing through a comprehensive three-year plan focused on retention, recruitment, and partnership building:

    • Retaining great educators by listening to their needs, supporting their professional growth, and building a school culture where they feel valued and heard.
    • Recruiting top talent and strengthening partnerships with Texas colleges, university education programs, certification programs, and alternative pathways to teaching to create a pipeline of passionate, well-prepared educators, especially in high-need areas like Special Education.

We also need to modernize our recruitment approach by leveraging technology-driven systems, expanded social media strategies, mobile-friendly communication tools, and broader distribution of job postings to reach the next generation of educators more effectively.

Additionally, we must continue advocating at the state level for better funding. This includes raising teacher salaries, increasing the basic allotment per student, and providing targeted resources for Special Education, where the number of students needing services in Texas has increased by over 30% in the last decade.

Most importantly, we must cherish, reward, and recognize the incredible educators and staff we already have. These professionals are shaping the future of our community every day. We must celebrate their impact, support their well-being, and ensure they know how valued they are.

  • Bringing additional funding to our schools starts with innovation, collaboration, and transparency. As a community, we are surrounded by families, businesses, and organizations that want to support Carroll ISD but often don’t have a clear or accessible way to do so.

That’s why developing SupportSouthlakeISD.com, a practical platform designed to bridge that gap, is a key priority. This tool will allow local businesses, families, and individual donors to get directly involved with our schools through sponsorships, endowments, and facility support. While opportunities exist today, no central resource makes those options visible, accessible, or easy to navigate.

Additionally, the site will highlight available meeting spaces within the district, providing a much-needed improvement to our current system and generating revenue through event hosting and community functions. These upgrades not only enhance school operations but also create ongoing value and visibility for our schools.

I want to emphasize that this isn’t about reinventing the wheel. It’s about working alongside the incredible organizations and support networks that already exist, giving them even more value and reach. Together, we can create a vibrant funding ecosystem that honors our traditions, enhances our resources, and brings lasting benefits to students, educators, and the entire Southlake community.

We don’t need to raise taxes. We need to raise our standard of involvement, and I’m committed to doing just that.

Vision: Building a Stronger Future Together

Valuing Teaching and Coaching Staff

Southlake ISD’s greatest asset is our exceptional teachers and coaches. We must prioritize competitive compensation, professional development opportunities, and modernizing staffing strategies to recruit and retain the best educators and coaches. When we invest in our teachers’ and coaches’ success, we directly invest in our students’ futures. This means listening to feedback, reducing unnecessary administrative burdens, and equipping our classrooms and programs with the resources needed for effective instruction. Outstanding educators are the foundation of student success, and they deserve our unwavering support.

Academic Excellence for Every Student

Every child deserves access to high-quality education that prepares them for their next steps in life. Maintaining rigorous academic standards while providing appropriate support for students with diverse learning needs remains essential. Our curriculum should remain current and relevant as we continue to engage in new program offerings to enhance student development and achievement, and support the whole child through comprehensive educational experiences. Excellence in education means meeting every student where they are and helping them reach their highest potential.

Special Education Excellence

Students with special needs deserve comprehensive support and individualized attention to reach their full potential. Our special education programs require adequate funding, proper staffing with qualified professionals, and necessary resources to succeed. Key priorities include advocating for appropriate class sizes, specialized training for staff, and creating inclusive environments where all students can thrive alongside their peers. Every child, regardless of their challenges, deserves the specialized support they need to flourish.

Teacher Support and Appreciation

Our educators need more than competitive salaries. They need recognition, professional growth opportunities, and administrative support that allows them to focus on what they do best: teaching. We should reduce paperwork burdens, provide meaningful professional development, celebrate teacher achievements, and create collaborative environments where our teachers feel extraordinarily valued, appreciated, and loved for the incredible work they do every day. When teachers feel supported and valued, students benefit immeasurably from their passion and dedication.

Strong Community Partnerships

Education works best when the full community works together. We need meaningful engagement with families, teachers, administration, city officials, talented business leaders, first responders, and all community members who share our commitment to educational excellence. Creating opportunities for input in educational decisions, establishing clear communication channels, and building volunteer programs will strengthen our school community. When we unite our collective expertise and resources, our schools thrive. A connected community creates stronger schools and brighter futures for all our children.

Sustainable Financial Management

Responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars means maximizing every resource while exploring innovative funding opportunities. Seeking grants, building partnerships with local businesses, and finding creative revenue streams can support our educational programs without placing additional burden on families. Our schools deserve the funding needed for excellence while maintaining fiscal accountability. Smart financial stewardship today ensures educational excellence for generations to come.
